Lost Hope
Seeing the rising of the sun
Its warmth pressing on the skin
baking and bathing the rays of light into your existence
Yet it goes unnoticed.
More of an annoyance, than a blessing
A creative bluebird
perched on a withered branch
singing a song of praise to the heavens
merely an early alarm
cheating discord
an unwanted solo of unyielding end.
Mother
Did you dream of the woman I'd be, when you carried me?
Did you long to caress my face, and hold me?
Was I all you ever wanted in an adoring child?
Or did I disappoint you since I was knee high?
Do you wonder why I am the way I am?
Longing and yearning for the simple touch of your hand
All those dusk filled evenings, when the dew is thick
I lie awake in a lonely bed, wishing, hoping, for the love I never had
As you watched me grow were you proud?
I looked up to you, like you danced on a cloud
In moments of hurt, did you consider my pain?
Were you like an umbrella to shield the rain?
In all I've done for you, mommy dear
Did you realize, I love you was all I needed to hear?
When tears flowed like April showers, did you wipe them away?
It's sad because the day you left, you took my heart away
I would have given anything to make you stay.
